Cabin Fever!

The main topic of conversation I'm hearing everywhere...."We are just so done with winter!" As it's still only the last week of February, I'm guessing Old Man Winter isn't "done" with us quite yet, but I'm daydreaming of snowdrops and crocus...and SPRING Fever!

I know they're there, just waiting to pop up and dazzle us on that first 50 degree day!

Above is a photo from my garden from last year, taken towards the end of March...less than a month away now!

...And a new Anemone pendant, bright and cheerful with shades of pinks, blues and glowing greens:  a touch of dichroic sparkle in the center brings this piece to life. This Anemone is about 2 1/4" across.

Summer Hydrangea is a one-of-a-kind piece available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis. The price is $135. Please email me if you are interested.

Thanks for taking a peek.....

A Breath of Spring....ahhhh...

Well, in North Carolina, anyway....my sister just sent this picture of her garden! I can almost smell the freshly-spread bark mulch and feel the warmth of the sunshine.

Here on the Massachusetts coast we have to settle for a foggy, rainy day - but no snow - so I thought I'd add some spring inspiration from my studio....a new Anemone.

This "Jonquil Gold" Anemone is a touch over 2" across, with several shades of golden-yellow with black accents. The bottom layer is left shiny to reflect the soft matte finish of the top.

Hyacinth Ruffles Anemone

Today I'd like to share an Anemone pendant with you.

My Anemone pendants are made from ruffled layers of soda-lime glass I handcraft at my torch.

After annealing, I match the layers and wire them together with a coordinating center.

Hyacinth Ruffles is 2" across. Shades of blue-purples and lavender are inspired by colors and forms in my garden.

The bottom layer has been partially etched to create a soft matte finish. You can just see the touch of dichroic glass I added to the shiny top layer for more sparkle and depth.

Hyacinth Ruffles is a one-of-a-kind piece available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis.  The price is $135. Please email if you are interested in Hyacinth Ruffles.

Photo at left: An Anemone pendant being worn on a cord. Anemones look especially nice on choker length Omega chains.
(Please note: these colors are shown as close to real as I could photograph but may vary by individual monitor).

My archaeological dig!

No need to stray too far from home, the "archaeological dig" was the desk here in my studio!

After a full day of cleaning and organizing there is more clean surface visible than I've seen since this time last year. Now, with the bits & pieces from attempts at new designs piled into little jars and glass saucers, and trays filled with pieces of works in process scattered across the desk, the creative possibilities seem endless.

It's an exciting place to be.....tucked away at my work table, in the back of my studio, hidden away in the rear of my little brick courtyard. I can hardly wait for Spring, when the indoor plants go back outside and I can fill the window boxes with overflowing, cascading color! (See photo looking out my studio window in the Spring at left.)

Speaking of being tucked away…this time of year is pretty quiet and sometimes I’ll go a few days without seeing a new face. That said, I hope you'll peek in for a visit now and then.....

Welcome...

I'm dipping my toe into the blog world to share my colorful glass jewelry studio with those of you who don't have an opportunity to visit me in person here in Gloucester, MA.

I'll have studio notes and some one-of-a-kind pieces available to purchase from time to time. I hope you enjoy the visit!   (Photo: My busy bench!)
